No Child Left Behind

Dear Parents and Guardians,

The No Child Left Behind Act of 2001 is based on principles that provide a framework through which families, educators, and communities can work together to improve teaching and learning. There have been new reporting provisions added to offer parents important insight into their children's education and the quality of the schools they attend, including parental involvement. We want to ensure that parents and our campuses are working together toward student success. As former Secretary of Education Rod Paige put it, "Schools can't improve without the help of parents."

We need your help as we inspect our current level of parental involvement on our campuses. We need feedback regarding Parental Involvement and our Title 1 Programs. As you can, please fill out the two surveys below. They are available in English and in Spanish.

A paper version is also available. You may pick it up from your school's front office or download it from this email. You may submit the completed form to your school's front office.

We ask that you complete this survey by March 13th so that we may use the remaining time in the school year to review responses and plan more effective parental involvement for next year.

Thank you for your time to offer your feedback on this important matter!

National School Breakfast Week 3/2-3/6

The first week of March is National School Breakfast Week. In honor of this week, we want to encourage students to eat breakfast at school. According to the NEA Health Information Network, "studies of school breakfast programs have found that students who eat breakfast at school show improved academic achievement -- especially in vocabulary, math and standardized tests -- have better attendance records, are less likely to be tardy and exhibit fewer behavioral and psychological problems. Children who regularly eat breakfast also have a better quality of nutrient intake and are less likely to be overweight or obese." So make breakfast time your favorite time and make time for school breakfast!

We have great news!
